The Origins of Tandis

Majid founded the first Tandis salon in Iran back in 1995. After working as a makeup artist in the Iranian film industry, Majid realised that his innate passion for hairstyling stemmed from growing up in and around salons – his family's line of work.

Launching Tandis, then, was only ever a matter of time. Majid was able to shape the brand to reflect the growing needs of clients, offering prestige services less than common amongst competitors and peers, including facials and massage. After moving to the UK Majid opened the Tandis Hair & Beauty salon in Kings Heath, Birmingham in 2006.

The team's passion for the craft, sensitivity for their clients, and incomparable work ethic quickly led to launching two more hair salons in Birmingham.

In Persian, ‘Tandis' means statue, prize, or trophy. The namesake emblemises the ambitions of the brand - to see itself as its own competition and to push forward with a winner's mind-set.
